Is 5 Inches The New 4 Inch

By walker on 9/26/2007 on walker's blog

The fashion world is calling brown the new black. For fall, if you're not wearing brown, then you don't know what's going on. Could it be that Mountain Bikers also have a fashion sense; about suspension?

National Trail - South Mountain Phoenix

The Story

More self-shot footage of a little XC riding in Phoenix. Watch as I ride down a couple of the famous technical spots, the waterfall and the steps. The camera angle doesn't do the decent justice...but what's a one man crew to do? The highlight of the day was waiting for a group of senior citizens to walk up the waterfall, they asked me if I was going to ride down that...I said, sure am. Some said they just couldn't stand to watch...the rest gathered around and became spectators. When I successfully made it down they all cheered for me. Nothing like putting on a show for a bunch of old people (who were mighty fit I might add). Riding my 2006 Trek Fuel EX 9. One sturdy steed. Riding music, Comfort Eagle, provided by CAKE.

The Story

I self-shot this footage with my digital camera strategically placed on a rock. Hawes trail in Mesa Arizona has miles and miles of excellent cross country singletrack. I'm riding my pride and joy, a 2006 Trek Fuel EX 9. The song you hear playing is "Going the Distance" by Cake.

Where would we be without the morning news?

By walker on 7/10/2006 on walker's blog

So, the weekend is over. Now it is time to catch up on all the news out there. This post will help you become the news-gatherer you've always wanted to be. You can thank me later by sending some muffins.

What is the deal with Trek and Gary Fisher. Well, the answer is Trek owns Gary Fisher bicycles (they don't own Gary Fisher, yet). The influx of cash has helped and the results are obvious. In the mountain states (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming), Gary Fisher bicycles have made a strong comeback. That comeback will be all the more apparent as Trek unveils a new line up of Fisher bicycles. So, if you're into buying a new bike, check out Trek.
