The Balancing Act

By thobry on 11/17/2006 on thobry's blog

First thing I need to say is this yourMTB site has some great stories. I am only now just getting around to sharing my own. My story is actually more of an observation, maybe its a story - I dont know - I am more of a visual person so bear with me.

As I get older and my birthday nears I realize how as a kid I could count the days to that morning of waking up and knowing "this is my day". Of course, it was also - where are those gifts, the cake and ice cream. Man I love ice cream. Now life is too busy for me to bother counting the days and I know in just about 2 weeks I will one day wake up and go oh yeah its my birthday, well, time to go to the office.

So Stoked over the "Photo of the week"

By BigAgnes on 10/17/2006 on BigAgnes's blog

I would like to start off today by saying just how stoked I am to have won the "Photo of the Week" for my Tattoo. I get comments on it almost daily, and the best part about those comments, is when I get to explain my love of bikes. It almost always guarentees, at least, a 30 minute conversation on bikes. It's great to see people's reactions when I tell them that I commute to work everyday, and ride just about every chance I get, whether it's to the grocery store, work, or for the hell of it (not for gas though). Anyway, thanks a lot...the Photo of the week is a great honor.

Talking about all of this biking makes me wonder though, how many of you out there are biking to work.

BUILD YOUR OWN BIKE REPAIR STAND FOR UNDER $20

This is the PVC "T" showing round head screws, latch, and pipe insulation.

Hey all! Don't feel like spending a $100 or $200 on a repair stand so you can work on your trusty steed? I have a pretty good alternative that you can build yourself for under $20.
Here is the materials list:
* (1) 36" piece of 1 1/4" galvanized pipe (threaded at one end)
You can use whatever length pipe you need for your particular installation.
* (1) threaded 1 1/4" galvanized base
* (1) 1 1/4" PVC tee connection
* (2) small hinges
* (1) lockable draw catch
* (1) cotter pin (to lock the catch for extra insurance while working on your bike)

Do you shop at work?

<em>walker</em>'s picture
By walker on 6/8/2006

The other day I signed up for a race at work. It was great! I shopped online, while at work and no one knew about it. However, I found out later that doing so isn't really a problem. In fact, everyone is doing it. According to a report by Yahoo one in four Americans logging in are doing so to shop online. The truly unfortunate thing about this is that shopping online is just as addictive as in person.
