According to Dr. Joan Timmerman, a director at St. Mary’s Weight Management Center, the color of the foods you choose can have a powerful impact on your overall health. She states that a diet which includes colorful fruits and vegetables is also rich in antioxidants. In the CourierPress, the good doctor went as far as to break down what the positive effects we can expect from the color spectrum: Reds, like strawberries, are loaded with Vitamin C. Reds, like tomatoes, have lycopene, which can help shield from some cancers. Blueberries, in addition to C, have lots of manganese.
