This trail doesn't have a name, it's just the equestrian trail. It's in Argyle Lake State Park which is near the town of Colchester, Illinois which is near the town of Macomb, Illinois where the Western Illinois University campus of Macomb is. The trail is, and I'm guessing, I could be wrong, about 7 to 10 miles?? It takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete. It's a beautiful park. You start out on the flatlands and ride into the woods which quickly takes you into a steep descent into a creek bottom. You ride through the creek a couple of times and some boggy areas (muddy/sandy) and ride out of the creek bottom into the woods. You enter a mix of pine forest and regular Illinois oak and whatnot forest. You have to manuever around the ruts on some downhills due to rain wash out and it can get bumpy where the horses have trod. You ride over the dam spillway below the dam and towards the end of the ride you go past a scary looking house/complex. I don't get what it is or why it's there on the trail but I'm pretty sure people live in it. It takes you by surprise but oh well. I always pick up the pace when I go by this place. It's a nice ride if you want a little of everything. It's a trail any level of experience could ride.

Description

This is a relaxing ride in some areas and a taxing ride in others. Fun all around though. It's an equestrian/mountain bike trail so no obstacles, just a nice trail ride.
