Favorite Thing about Mountain Biking
Many thoughts come to mind. Here's my stream of consciousness: Staying in shape. Adrenaline rush after cleaning a gnarly section or fast difficult section. Being outdoors. Spending times with buddies. Moab. Durango. Pain. No dabs. Epics.
Where I've Been
All over the LA and Ventura County trails. Especially fond of JPL, Backbone Trail, Sycamore Canyon, Conejo Rim Epic (73 miles and 11,000'of vertical in 13 hours baby!), Moab, about 8 times. Durango, about 5 times. Fruita - 3 times. Grand Junction, Crested Butte, Michigan, Gooseberry Mesa. Road bike went with me to see Lance win his 6th TDF. We did the last 10 days of the Tour from the Alps into Paris. Props to Bikestyletours.com. They are the best.
My Bikes
2000 Gary Fisher Sugar 2 (backup bike), 2004 Specialized M5 S Works (Epic) as my normal rig (won the lower model Epic as part of the Grand Prize at Sea Otter a few yrs ago. Cashed in the retail value toward their top race bike.
Road bike is a 2004 Greg Lemond Zurich
Favorite Trail
Porcupine Rim, especially with the addition of the Upper Porcupine Singletrack
MTB Tip
Always wear a helmet. Kills me to see guys out there without... they're just asking for a head injury.
Favorite Memory
So many..... that's what I love about MTB. There are three that come to mind. Recently I and three buddies did our annual (kindof) Conejo Rim Epic, This was the third time we've done it. I finished the whole thing in under 14 hours, covering 70.2 miles and nearly 11,000 feet of vertical.
Special Skills
I have no mad skills.. just heart
Best MTB Joke
Why did the MTB cross the trail? It was epic.
