How to Clean Your Bike |
NVMtBiker says:
i would definitely NOT use lubricant to wipe down my bike. petrolium products will destroy leather seats and make artificial covers like kevlar way too slick to ride. most also attract dust which leads to more problems by gumming everything up. IF you go with this approach, use a parfin based product like white lightning, boeshield, or tri flow. the "dry" wax base will repel water, but not attract the dust. it's also the best for lubricating in dusty conditions. even at that, you're best off really cleaning your chain with degreaser, then drying before applying the lube. |
Spacemonkey says:
yea and any book I have read says not to use 3 and 1 oil on a bike. It's vegtable based and Will become sticky when heated. Clean bikes with water, and soap for frames and degreaser where it's needed |
